Todd Snyder’s Travel-Ready Nomad Collection Is A Sartorial Trip
Snyder’s Spring 2023 collection draws inspiration from 1950s Tangier.

Sooner rather than later, you might find your mind drifting away from drab grey winter skies towards dusty, sun-filled days in some far-off, exotic locale: When that time comes, keep the new Todd Snyder Spring & Summer 2023 Nomad Collection top of mind.

The just-announced collection, debuted at NYC’s The Ned NoMad Hotel last week, showcases and builds upon the American designer’s range — just this year, Todd Snyder debuted the company’s first-ever shoe and co-designed a pair of luxe aviators.
The Nomad Collection takes things in a different direction, embracing rich texture and a dusty color palette once favored by American ex-pats like writer Paul Bowles in 1950s Tangier.

The offering embraces breezy, roomier fits, plus plenty of texture and volume, be it in gurkha-style shorts, knit sweater-polos or exceptionally textured linen suiting made from fine Italian fabrics.
“The menswear pendulum is shifting back to softly tailored suits with a relaxed fit that are reminiscent of The Eighties,” Snyder said. “Rustic textures are front and center, (like) dobby and Ikat prints, crocheted tunics and popovers.”

Snyder noted that the collection features some of the most texture he’s ever designed, delivered in a way that perfectly mixes refinement and bohemian chic (comparisons to some styles found in The Talented Mr. Ripley feel especially apt).

Other looks, like a relaxed pleated trouser and homespun shirt jacket, draw inspiration from Morocco’s tuareg rugs.
Perhaps the most impressive part of the collection is the way it manages to hit on both a relaxed, easygoing, almost “devil may care” vibe while still offering plenty of polish and refinement.

A handsome deep brown linen suit anchors the collection’s tailored pieces, the sort of style that pairs readily with knit polos aplenty.

Even more intriguing is a new line of Todd Snyder-developed leather slides, a seriously cool and on-trend option to replace your current loafers come spring and summer 2023 weddings.

The collection also features a hearty dose of the designer’s customary indigo pieces, including a light wash denim chore coat and another unique take on the chore coat silhouette delivered in a heightened shade of blue.
