As Ulysse Nardin says, its aptly named “Freak Watch” has “no hands, no dial and no boundaries,” and the Freak Watch [X OPS] carries on that same legacy in impressive, intricate fashion.
Introduced at Watches and Wonders Shanghai, the latest Freak Watch joins a line of a dozen watches under the same umbrella, each with its own flair and flavor.
There’s the sporty, $68,600 Ulysses Nardin Freak One Watch, which “epitomizes our commitment to innovation and excellence,” the watchmaker said, and the Freak [X OPS] is a touch more rugged and sporty, as it’s outfitted with a dark green NATO strap.
The 43mm Freak [X OPS] is crafted from titanium and treated with a black DLC coating, and its flanks are made from carbon fiber composite with a wavy, almost topographical design.
The UN-230 flying carousel movement operates in smooth, eye-catching fashion, with a balance wheel and escapement that are suspended by one bridge that functions as the minutes hand, with a second bridge functioning as the hour hand.
In similar fashion to the rest of the Freak Watch line, this innovation comes with a hefty price tag: The Freak [X OPS] retails for $33,800 online at Ulysse Nardin.
