The humble origins of one of pop’s biggest new names, Halsey, will be the focus of an upcoming biopic.
Sony Pictures has secured the rights for a movie “loosely based on” the life of the biracial 23-year-old singer from New Jersey, Deadline reports.
What’s more, Halsey will star in the project, just like Eminem did in the hit 2002 movie about his life, 8 Mile.
This means the girl you’ve heard singing on the Chainsmokers’ mega hit “Closer” and the Justin Bieber song “The Feeling” will effectively have her own 8 Mile.
“I’m told the closest cousin to what they hope for here is a vehicle that does for her what 8 Mile did for Eminem,” Deadline wrote of Sony’s intentions with the movie.
Halsey has released two studio albums, Badlands and Hopeless Fountain Kingdom, and is known for her activism. She’s also dating rapper G-Eazy, who has been racked up huge hits like “No Limit” and “Him & I” featuring Halsey.
Halsey is also no slouch on Instagram, where she boasts over 7 million followers. See some of her hottest moments on the ‘gram here.
