Ronda Rousey Kind of Predicted Her UFC 193 Knockout
She even mentioned the move that took her out.
No one expected Holly Holm to dominate our girl Ronda Rousey at Saturday’s UFC 193. The lethal bombshell and “Preacher’s Daughter” took Rousey down with a deft kick to the head, stripping the Rowdy One of her undefeated status and becoming the reigning UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion.
Hindsight reveals Rousey knew things could go down like this. In an unintentionally prophetic interview with Jimmy Fallon in October, Rousey predicted the knockout that would rock the UFC.
Rousey told Fallon, “This one is gonna be a much longer fight, because she’s a 19-time boxing world champion with a 100-percent takedown defense in head-kick knockouts. She’s undefeated and an amazing athlete and the biggest threat definitely to me.”
The now-defeated champ even anticipated Holly Holm’s general strategy: “She’s the type of fighter you have to be very, very patient with. I feel like she’s gonna try keep distance and keep far away from me and get me frustrated into a point where I’ll get frustrated, and she can kick me in the head, but it’s not gonna go like that.”
It did go exactly like that.
For what it’s worth, we’re predicting a fierce comeback from Maxim‘s fave. If it comes down to a re-match with our Rowdy Ronda, the new champion Preacher’s Daughter will need all her training and some extra prayers to boot.
